Meet Adam Grimm. In just over two years, Adam went from a casual range trip to becoming the 2025 USPSA Limited Optics National Champion—a feat that has never been accomplished by a first-time attendee in the history of the sport. Now, he’s bringing that world-class expertise back home to help the CDA community sharpen their skills through his local training business, GrimmTech Precision.

What is USPSA?

For those who haven’t seen it in action, USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association) isn’t your typical day at the range. It’s a dynamic "run and gun" sport that tests a shooter's ability to balance speed, accuracy, and power. Competitors move through complex stages, shooting around barriers and through windows at various targets—all while the clock is ticking. A Meteoric Rise in the Shooting Sports

Getting into competitive shooting usually involves years of trial and error. For Adam, it started with a simple suggestion from a friend in 2023. After an introduction to competitive shooting at a Steel Challenge, he jumped into his first USPSA match with zero expectations and a lot of curiosity.

Something clicked immediately. What began as a hobby quickly turned into a dedicated pursuit of excellence. Adam’s trajectory was nothing short of historic:

2023: Shot his very first match.
October 2024: Earned Master classification.
April 2025: Reached Grandmaster, the highest possible rank in the sport.
October 2025: Won his first National Championship on his very first attempt!

"The community was awesome, and the sport itself was incredibly addicting," Adam says. That combination of problem-solving and discipline is exactly what he now shares with his students right here in Coeur d’Alene.
